If you resell dates, you've probably copied a health claim into a listing at some point because a supplier's brochure said so. Worth stopping that with Mariami specifically — here's what's actually defensible to say about it, and what to buy on instead.
What you're actually selling
Mariami is an Iranian date, AA or AAA grade in most Malaysian wholesale lots, small-to-medium, dark skin, soft texture, caramel-forward sweetness. That's the product description that holds up. Background on grading against related varieties like Piarom is here: Kurma Mariami Piarom.
Why we don't put "medicinal" in our listings
Dates carry fibre and natural sugar — true of any dried fruit, not a Mariami-specific benefit, and not a treatment claim for diabetes, blood pressure or anything else a customer might be managing. Repeating a supplier's health claim on your own listing puts the liability on you, not them, and it doesn't actually move stock any faster than an honest description does. If a customer asks a medical question, point them to a doctor and move on.
What resellers should actually check before buying stock
- Grade consistency across the carton, not just the top layer
- Harvest date — buy fresher stock even if it costs slightly more; it moves faster and returns less
- Moisture and skin condition on a sample before committing to a bulk order
For the wider supply chain context, see this wholesaler's account of how dates move to Malaysia.
Buying wholesale from us
We sell Mariami by the carton with grade and harvest season stated upfront, no health copy attached. If you're stocking a full range, our import and nutrition guide covers the rest of the varieties we carry.
