Health Benefits Of Dried Fruit Baskets

A dried fruit basket sold wholesale isn't the same product as one built for a single gift — the mix, the packaging and the shelf life all get judged differently once you're moving cases instead of one box.

For a wholesale buyer, consistency across pieces matters more than novelty. If a basket has 200g of dates, that weight needs to be close to identical box to box, or retailers downstream start weighing your product against their expectations and finding shortfalls. Ajwa and Safawi hold their shape well under transport; softer varieties like fresh Medjool bruise more easily when boxes get stacked, so they need a firmer inner tray if they're going into a mixed basket.

Shelf life across a supply run

Dried apricots and prunes have shorter practical shelf lives than dates once opened — dates can sit for months in a sealed bag, apricots start losing texture and colour within weeks if the packaging isn't airtight. If a basket is going to sit in a retailer's stockroom before it reaches a shelf, build in that margin: pack the shorter-lived component last and closest to the seal, so it's exposed to air for the least time during handling.

Nuts add weight and cost fast — almonds and pistachios run higher per kilogram than most dried fruit, so a basket built to a price point usually uses nuts as an accent (a small handful) rather than a bulk filler. Buyers comparing baskets by weight alone can be misled if one basket is heavier because of cheap filler fruit rather than better ingredients.
